Anointing of the Sick - to be stronger in suffering

Every human, one day or another, is confronted with disease. If most diseases are quickly cured, though some are incurable. For such situations, the church has a sacrament, the sacrament of the sick (or extreme unction). It has to give to the sick person the strength to face this difficult phase or permanent reality of her/his life.

The priest who administers this sacrament, anoints the forehead and hands of the sick person with consecrated oil and imposes his hands in a gesture of consolation in Jesus’ name who has laid hands on many sick persons.
